Album of the Week

Every Monday will highlight the album of the week. Anything from the roots of hip hop to newly released projects. A different hot joint each week. First up, no one other then Hova and his original LP Reasonable doubt. Released on June 25, 1996. Hit the jump to read more and download.

Jigga grew up hustling in the Marcy projects in Brooklyn, NY and got into rap by battling other slangers in the streets. Although he didn't release his first album, Reasonable Doubt, until he was 27, Jigga has had arguably a greater impact then anyone else in the game. With features from Memphis Bleek, Mary J. Blige and The Notorious B.I.G. Jay-Z proved he had already established himself with some of music's biggest names. Four singles were released in promotion of the CD: Ain't No Nigga, Can't Knock the Hustle, Feelin' It, & Dead Presidents. The most overlooked record has to be Coming of Age featuring Memphis Bleek produced by Clark Kent. Though the album only peaked at 23 on the Billboard top 200 it went platinum in 2002. Although the numbers don't jump out, many consider the album Jay-Z's best work. What do you think?
