Songs of the Week (July 17th)

This week's songs are brought to you by J. Lo and her recent change in relationship status to single again. I'll have to shoot her a text and see if she wants to do something. Anyway, this week we got a YMCMB posse cut (one that's actually good), Joell Ortiz, Rozay and a bunch of others. Gotta shout out to Bentley for putting me onto the Dean's List and Avicii joints. Hit the jump to check out the selection and check out last week's list here.

Lil' Wayne - YM Salute (feat. Lil' Chuckee, Lil' Twist, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz & Nicki Minaj)
This is one of the very few tracks I enjoyed off of I Am Not A Human Being. Even the less then average members of YM drop decent bars over this track (the beat was also used for Jeezy's "Momma Told Me"). If only they let Drake rock on it tho....

I'm a purple heart proven war vet rookie,
You can't even sit next to me,
Now bring money or death to me, or don't step to me.

Del The Funky Homosapien - If You Must

You might recognize this song if you played Tony Hawk's Proskater at all. Hilarious song about stanky ass people. Del really flexes his skills on this one, about an everyday topic.

Now at class you need total concentration,
But there's kids in the back holding conversations.
Crackin' on each other, and neither were poster boys.
Both of 'em smell like the type that soap avoids.
Coast & Joy, they leave their absence,
One fool's feet smelled like it struck some matchsticks,
Brimstone, girls would never bring him home.

Joell Ortiz - Keep On Callin' (feat. Akon)
Joell jacked this beat from a dude named "P-Money", and put his own spin on it, talking about real ass shit about the earlier parts of his life. I feel that this coulda gained more steam if it was promoted correctly. Or at all.

Got jumped and they all yelled, "But ya man's a faggot",
No name jeans with the grass stains and wack zipper,
Tucked up under the button up for the class picture.
Eating twice in the lunch room, already beasted mine,
But some food just *keeps on callin'*

Dean's List - Dear Professor

The sample on this track is fuckin' crazy. In the genre of teenage-college rap (along with Mac Miller, Asher Roth, Sam Adams ect.), but this is one of my favorite songs at the moment. Although I wish that A. there were more then 2 verses and B. that those two verses weren't the same thing smh. But just listen.

Put your cup up in the air, bury me up in this booth,
We on the verge baby, this the come up song,
A loud toast to the coast I done came up on.
Get ya camera, baby, this a night for the ages,
Twenty years young having fun, gettin' wasted.

Rick Ross - Knife Fight (feat. Kool G. Rap)
This song was dropped on Rozay's Albert Anastasia EP when there were talks that Kool G. would sign with MMG. Great production on this one, with a Biggie x Jada sample on the hook and tight verse by both artists.

Hallelujah, women holla,
Somebody talked and got 'em leaking holes in his medulla ablongata

Avicii - Levels (Original Mix)
You got the funky ass sound effects in the first part, great chord progression in the middle and the dope vocals after that. This musta gotten major burn in the clubs when it first came out, shits sick.
